The Perse School - Swimming Pool and Sports Centre Cambridge
SWH acted as BREEAM Assessor for this sports and leisure project in Cambridge. Being appointed early in the design process allowed us to maximise innovative sustainability measures from the outset.
This project involved the construction of a new swimming pool and sports building at the Perse School in Cambridge. Scott White and Hookins were appointed as the BREEAM Assessor early in the design process. This enabled us to work closely with the team to maximise the sustainability measures adopted throughout the duration of the project.
The client and design team were keen to implement innovative sustainability solutions. The project demonstrated particularly performance against the BREEAM Water issues. They specified a greywater harvesting system to mitigate the domestic water demand of the building services, and installed a state of the art pool filtration system which is industry leading in terms of water effciency.
In addition to operational considerations, the team also heavily considered the building's embodied impact. A Life Cycle Analysis of potential designs was conducted early in the design process, to enable the team to identify the design and material options with least embodied environmental impact.
