LED Screens at MDL Beast Saudi Arabia
SWH analysed the expected structural capacity of an arrangement of LED screens for the music festival, MDL Beast Soundstorm Festival.
We were appointed by Production Resource Group (PRG) to analyse and provide a report on the expected structural capacity of a predetermined arrangement of LED screens for the MDL Beast Soundstorm Festival, in Saudi Arabia.
The overall screen dimensions were approximately 220m wide x 25.2m high and consisted of four different screen types and/or frames, including:
- a VR7 Nocturne Frame
- a Titan X (Pure 8) Frame
- a WinVision Air RS Frame
- a VR7 XL Frame.
Verification for each screen frame type was undertaken to confirm they had sufficient capacity for the proposed event.
All parts of the structure were checked to confirm that they could resist a maximum wind gust of up to 18m/s.
The structure was checked for ‘short duration events’, in accordance with requirements given in the Institution of Structural Engineers – Temporary Demountable Structures guidance.
