Demolition Projects Various

SWH have extensive experience working on demolition projects, including industrial units, hospital buildings and more. Working as CDM and H&S Consultants, we ensure compliance and safety is maintained.

We support sustainable solutions, such as crushing and reusing hardcore materials. Working as CDM Consultants across demolition projects, our services include a full range of Principal Designer services along with comprehensive site-based audits to assess the successful health and safety planning and implementation of the works. Our services focus on early design risk management with the project team, extending through the design stages and into construction.

Recent demolition projects include:

Warehouse (Lockheed Martin, Ampthill) Demolition of an entire building, including disconnection and removal of all services, as well as services diversion works, and the removal of a boiler and fuel tank. The existing concrete service yard slab and subbase was broken out, with all concrete and masonry material crushed on site and stockpiled. Works to an adjacent building included construction of a new gable end steel frame and a rebuild of the external gable end wall.

Multiple Hospital Buildings (Broadmoor) Removal of furniture and then demolition of 8 small to medium sized independent structures to slab level only, including cutting of all steel columns to this level.

Iron Treatment Works & Water Tower (Whitehill & Bordon)- Works included isolation of services, ecology roof strip and mechanical demolition of building. Plus, demolition of tank to the rear of building and removal of slabs and foundations. Waste was removed and all hardcore transported to nearby Bordon Enterprise Park ready for crushing at a later date. Chain-link fence and gates were installed for added security.

Hospital Mortuary (Bedford) Demolition of the existing mortuary building, including asbestos removal, capping off, removal and diversion of services, protection of the BOC installation, removal of ground floor slab and foundations, including back fill.

SWH's role for these projects included Principal Designer, Principal Designer Advisor via the contractor or lead consultant (usually the architect and the Client Advisor role.
