The Traffic and Transport team enabled a significant expansion in school places all over Cambridgeshire.
As part of this project, Scott White and Hookins' Traffic and Transport team worked to expand the number of primary and secondary school places all over Cambridgeshire.
SWH produced Transport Statements and updates to School Travel Plans for schools in Fulbourn, Melbourn, Meldreth, Histon and Impington, March, Waterbeach and Whittlesey.
In addition, as part of the county's projects to build new towns at Cambourne and Northstowe, we wrote Transport Assessments for major new secondary schools at each of these new settlements.
Securing planning for all of these school schemes has required robust analysis, the sourcing of significant quantities of school travel and catchment data, junction capacity modelling and the production of car parking management plans.
In some cases, we have also needed to negotiate the agreement of off-site works, including footway improvements, provision of new Park & Stride facilities and upgrades to junctions and crossing facilities.
As a result of SWH's efforts, there are in excess of 1,500 additional primary school places and 2,500 additional secondary school places being provided in Cambridgeshire.
