Bridge Point Barking
SWH were appointed as the BREEAM Assessor and as the Advisory Professional from the outset of the design, along with the rest of the design team, to highlight sustainability opportunities and risks.
The scheme for Bridge Point maximised renewable technologies through the installation of solar photovoltaics and air source heat pumps.
As well as the BREEAM Assessor role, SWH were also appointed as the BREEAM Advisory Professional (AP) on this scheme, meaning we were regularly involved in design team meetings and attended site to track progress and discuss sustainability issues with the whole project team.
SWH worked closely with the M&E Consultants to produce a suitable Sustainability and Energy Statement that addressed the Barking Dagenham Local Plan, as well as the London Plan.
The team engaged with an ecologist and landscape architect to deliver a site with enhanced ecological value, compared to the pre-developed site. Waste and water minimisation were also key considerations on this scheme and were sections that performed particularly well on this BREEAM assessment.
The targeted rating was 'Excellent' and this was achieved at Post Construction. This is just one of many Bridge Industrial projects that SWH are working on, following the positive successful BREEAM experience on this project.
Target rating - Excellent
Final rating - BREEAM Excellent Certified
