Bloqs Industrial Unit Enfield
This exciting scheme involved part refurbishment and part new-build work to deliver a workshop for the creative industries to flourish, as part of the Meridian Water regeneration programme.
SWH were appointed as both BREEAM Assessors and BREEAM AP to undertake a bespoke assessment of this scheme.
We worked with the project team to identify how the existing design could be enhanced through the addition of sustainability measures. We took part in regular meetings with the team to identify any sustainability risks and opportunities.
The development scored particularly well in the 'Energy' section of BREEAM- the building is heated by a biomass boiler which is fuelled by offcuts and saw dust created within the workshop.
Ample cycle storage and facilities have been included within the scheme to encourage building occupants to travel in a sustainable way.
The building has been designed with flexibility and future adaptability in mind, should it be needed for a different use in the future. Cladding, fire protection, partitions and internal finishes have all been designed to be easily dismantled or reconfigured.
